The San Jose Sharks have signed Niklas Hjalmarsson to an offer sheet reportedly for 4 years and worth $14 million dollars. However, the Blackhawks still have a chance to keep their Swedish defender from heading to the Western Conference rival. Click below for more details…The Blackhawks will have seven days to match the offer or will lose the 23 year old defenseman and get a 1st and 3rd round draft pick in return. Hjalmarsson played a key role for the Blackhawks all year and would leave a big hole on the second defensive pairing if he were not to return to the ‘Hawks next year.

if the current cba allows it the hawks could resign him trade him to the east keeping Niklas away from the Sharks. Of course getting some thing more than two high draft picks, a player in the last year of their contract and much less than 3.5 million per. Even though we know Hjalmarsson is being over – paid for who he is right now an eastern team may look at this as a chance to get definitely fine talent.
