Aramis Ramirez Named NL Player of the Week

Aramis Ramirez has been named the NL player of the week for his stellar play from July 19-25; Ramirez hit .360 (9 for 25) with 4 home runs and 10 RBI. Although Ramirez has struggled for most of the season it appears as if he has found his form since coming off of the DL on June 25th.

Ramirez recorded hits in all 6 games played last week with a .393 on base percentage, a .840 slugging percentage and a video game like 1.233 OPS. Going into the final week of the month Ramirez has set himself up nicely to being named the NL player of the month. He's hitting .351 with a Major League leading 9 HRs and 24 RBI in July. Ramirez wasn't the only Cub to gain notice by the league for their performance last week, Starlin Castro (.407 BA, 11 H, 6 RBI, SB) and Derrek Lee (.423 BA, 11 H, 7 R) were nominated for the award that Ramirez won.
