Derrick Rose Selected as Finalist for Team USA

After four days of work-outs and scrimmages in Las Vegas with other Team USA hopefuls, Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has been named one of 15 finalists for a roster spot on Team USA. The next step for Rose and the other 14 players is a seven day camp that will take place in New York City from August 10-16 at which point the team will be trimmed down to 12.

If Rose makes the final cut and is named to the team he will travel to Turkey to compete in the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Team USA's opening game will be on Aug. 28 again Croatia; their first of five preliminary games until the elimination rounds begin. Team USA took the bronze medal at the last World Championship in 2006 and last won gold in 1994.
