The annual Forbes list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women rates first lady Michelle Obama, Kraft CEO Irene Rosenfeld and TV's Oprah Winfrey in the top three spots.

The magazine's Mary Ellen Egan says Michelle Obama is more than just the wife of a powerful man - she's a force in her own right.

As for Oprah Winfrey, Egan says "She's amazing. You look at how many peoples' careers she's created: Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray and now, Nate Berkus."

As head of Northfield-based Kraft, Irene Rosenfeld waged a successful $18 billion hostile takeover of British candymaker Cadbury.

Others on the list include German chancellor Angela Merkel, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Lady Gaga.
