3 Shot At West Town Gas Station

CHICAGO (STMW) - Three males were shot at a gas station early Saturday in the West Town neighborhood.

About 12:25 a.m., three males were shot in the 1900 block of West Division Street, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

The shooting occurred at 1950 W. Division St., which according to an online search is the Gomez Shell Services Center.

A clerk at the gas station said that he called the police about 10 minutes before the shooting began because 10 alleged gang members (whom the clerk believed to be Latin Kings) were hanging out at the gas station and yelling gang slogans. He heard a vehicle pass in the alley behind the gas station, then heard four gunshots.

A cabdriver getting air for his vehicle and two alleged gang members were struck by gunfire, according to the gas station clerk.

The males were taken with non life threatening injuries to area hospitals, Gaines said.

According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, two males were shot in the buttocks and taken to to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The third male was shot in one of his legs and taken to St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital Center.

No one was in custody early Saturday and Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
