CHICAGO (CBS) - Paramedics were sent to the scene a South Loop apartment building Monday moring, after pepper spray was discharged on the upper floors.

Emergency crews responded about 10:25 a.m. to a building at 900 S. Clark St. and initiated a hazardous materials response after pepper spray was discharged on the 16th floor, Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said.

The AMLI 900 residential building is located at the Clark Street address.

The Fire Department also initiated an EMS Plan 1 response, which automatically sends five ambulances to the scene, but as of 10:45 a.m. nobody had been hospitalized, MacGregor said.

Firefighters ventilated the building with a mechanical vent, according to MacGregor, who said the emergency responses are expected to be called off shortly after 10:45 a.m.
