Argument Ends With SUV Flipping

ELBURN, Ill. (STMW) - A man and a woman were hospitalized after the SUV they were inside flipped near Elburn early Sunday on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88).

The one-vehicle wreck happened at 2:40 a.m. on westbound I-88 near Illinois 47 close to Elburn, according to Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Tim Zych.

Francis Wasonga, 24, was behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Tahoe and was involved in an argument with his female passenger prior to the crash.

"Somehow the vehicle ended up rolling over,'' Zych said.

The woman, of Poplar Grove, was initially trapped and a helicopter was called that landed on the interstate and transported her to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. She suffered a leg injury was not seriously hurt, Zych said.

Wasonga who was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol was examined at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora.

Wasonga, of DeKalb, was issued a citation for DUI, Zych said.

The tollway was closed for about 20 minutes and the Tahoe was towed from the scene.
