3 Semis, Car Crash On Dan Ryan

CHICAGO (CBS) – The Dan Ryan Expressway was open again for the morning rush, after a major crash early Monday that involved three semi-trailer trucks and a car.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, three semis, one of them carrying food products, and one car were involved in a crash on the inbound Dan Ryan at 63rd Street, according to Illinois State Police.

Minor injuries were reported, although it was not immediately known how many people were hurt, state police said. None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.

State Police briefly had to shut down the inbound local lanes to clear the scene.

Semi drivers need to slow down when roads aren’t good because of weather conditions. How many times have you been in back of speeding semis that weave and start to jackknife on the road BEFORE they decide to slow down? I have been in that situation many times because there are so many on the roads. The State Police need to slow them down. The truck speed limit is posted at 55 mph, but how many do you see doing 70+ mph? And, if I can’t see your license plate, you are too close. Slow down to save lives. Thanks.
