Boy Dies After Collapsing In Library

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are conducting an investigation after a 16-year-old boy died after collapsing at the Harold Washington Library in the South Loop Wednesday evening.

The boy was inside a music room or a sound-proof room with a friend at the library, 400 S. State St., when he collapsed about 6 p.m. police said.

The boy, identified as Ian Anthony, 16, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:58 p.m., according to a spokesman from the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. No home address was immediately available.

Anthony had no apparent trauma or medical history, and a Thursday autopsy was inconclusive, pending further studies, according to the medical examiner's office.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
