Prospect Heights Police Chief Bruce Morris has been on the force ever since the suburb's police department was formed in 1990. He has been chief for 12 years.

Prospect Heights had been considering laying off between four and six officers in its 22-member force.

The Daily Herald reported that Morris himself and all his officers have been patrolling the streets due to low manpower, and thus, the police station has been closed to the public.

Morris started out as a Chicago Police officer in 1980, the Daily Herald reported.
