Toddler Beaten, Police Seeking Leads

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (STMW) - Police are investigating after a toddler was found badly beaten Wednesday morning at a west suburban motel.

About 8:13 a.m. Wednesday, St. Charles Fire and Police personnel responded to a 911 call of an unresponsive child at the Super 8 Motel at 1520 E. Main St.

The girl had been beaten inside a room at the motel, police spokesman Paul McCurtain said.

A 2-year-old girl was found unconscious and not breathing, and first responders noted that the child had bruising around the head, eyes and mouth, a police release said.

The child was stabilized before being taken to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva Hospital for treatment. The child was later airlifted to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, where it remained in critical but "stable" condition Thursday.

Multiple interviews have been conducted with family members and friends, but no arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon, the release said. Police are investigating the incident as an aggravated battery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigation Commander Jerry Gatlin at (630) 443-3739.
