JOLIET, Ill. (CBS) - Has the trail gone cold, in the search for the suspect who went on a fatal two-state shooting spree?

Will County officials say no. But media reports say yes.

Besides a sketch that was released not long after the shootings earlier this month, reports say police have little to show for three weeks of investigation.

Will County authorities also took heat after arresting a Lynwood police officer who was later determined to be the wrong man. Officer Brian Dorian was jailed for four days as the “Honey Bee Killer.”

The suspect shot two men who were rehabbing a house in Will County Beecher. One man, Rolando Alonso, 45, was killed, while the other, Joshua Garza, 19, was wounded and hospitalized. A third man escaped into a field.

Shortly afterward, the man shot farmer Keith Dahl, 63, at his farm in Lowell, Ind. Dahl may have saved his own life by playing dead.

As of now, police have narrowed the description of the suspect’s pickup truck to a light blue Chevrolet Cheyenne manufactured between 1991 and 1998.

Meanwhile, Dorian has been advised by Lynwood police Chief Russell Pearson to sue Will County.
