Bolingbrook Man Sentenced For Endangering Child

WHEATON (STMW) -- A Bolingbrook man was sentenced in DuPage County Circuit Court Tuesday for leaving his 5-year-old daughter alone inside his car while he visited a downtown Naperville nightclub.

William T. Gaston, 34, received one year of court supervision, 15 hours of community service and a $250 fine.

Gaston was arrested by Naperville police at 1:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at a parking lot at 44 W. Van Buren Ave. He was charged with endangering the life or health of a child, a misdemeanor.

A nearby motorist flagged down a police officer after seeing the child sitting alone in the back seat of Gaston's car. The girl was unharmed and later released into her mother's custody.

Gaston allegedly locked the car with the girl inside before spending the next 90 minutes at Rizzo's, 6 W. Jefferson Ave. A subsequent police investigation found no evidence of Gaston having been drinking.
