CHICAGO (STMW) – T-Mobile USA is set to announce Wednesday that it will boost the speed of its mobile network in Chicago by year’s end to what is known as 4G.

Existing T-Mobile customers with voice plans can add unlimited data service for $30 a month, or $35 a month to add texting, to access the 4G network’s higher speed. New customers can obtain talk, text and Web plans starting at $59.99 a month.

Though carriers tout 4G as providing 21 megabits-per-second speed, most consumers will get 10 megabits per second.
