'Show-Me's' Opponents Sound Off On Liquor License

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WBBM/STMW) - Opponents of the proposed Show-Me's restaurant in Naperville had a chance to tell the mayor yesterday their objections were not just about the attire the waitresses would wear.

Show-Me's wants a liquor license and that was the subject of a public forum chaired by Naperville's mayor. He is also Naperville's liquor commissioner and has the sole authority to grant or deny a liquor license.

One resident said her concerns were not only about the revealing outfits worn by waitresses at other Show-Me's, but the peace and safety of neighbors. The mayor heard from 21 residents, most of whom objected to the establishment.

The Chicago Tribune says the mayor will take a week or so to make a decision on the liquor license.

The sports bar and restaurant is slated to move into the former location of Famous Dave's, 1126 E. Ogden Ave. upon approval of a liquor license, features a wing and seafood menu and a wait staff of young women in short shorts and midriff-revealing tank tops, dubbed "Show-Me's Girls."

As part of Pradel's decision-making on the liquor license, her visited the franchise's Springfield location last month.

He called it, "a really laid-back crowd and just people having fun and enjoying fellowship."
