ROSEMONT, Ill. (STMW) – Seven people were injured Sunday during an auto accident on the Tri-State Tollway in northwest suburban Rosemont.
The auto accident occurred about 3:52 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) at the Irving Park Road Toll Plaza, Illinois State Police District 15 Master Sergeant Susan Ewald said.
John Ryan, 62, of Libertyville was driving a silver 2009 Toyota vehicle when he failed to stop at the toll plaza and struck the rear of a silver 2004 Ford Expedition sports utility vehicle, Ewald said.
Octavio Cervantes, 41, of Harvey–the driver of the SUV– was paying a toll when the vehicle was struck, Ewald said. His wife, Lydia, 36, and four children, all under the age of 15, were also in the vehicle.

Ryan was suffering from a medical emergency at the time of the accident, Ewald said.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
