Durbin To Make Cameo In Upcoming Movie

CHICAGO (CBS) - U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is making his Hollywood debut, with a cameo role in a single scene for the upcoming movie "Contagion."

Durbin's office confirmed Monday that he will have a cameo role in the movie, which is directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh.

Durbin is to film the scene on Tuesday in Chicago. He will appear alongside actor Laurence Fishburne, according to his office.

In the scene, Durbin will chair a Senate hearing and have a single line of dialogue. Durbin says he's "a little nervous" but all the hours on C-SPAN have prepared him for the moment.

"Contagion" is about the spread of an airborne virus that kills within days.

The cast also includes Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet, according to Durbin's office.
