Hit-Run Driver Cut Through Gas Station To Avoid Red Light

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are seeking a motorist who struck a pedestrian Monday while driving through a gas station to avoid a red light on the South Side.

The driver of a red sports utility vehicle with a roof rack was driving northbound in the 6200 block of South California Avenue at 10:15 p.m. when he drove through a Marathon gas station to avoid the red light, according to an alert from the Major Accident Investigation Unit.

The driver struck and seriously injured a male attempting to enter his vehicle through the driver's door of his minivan, according to the alert.

Anyone with any information that may lead to the identity of the driver and/or the vehicle involved in the hit and run accident should contact the Major Accident Investigation Unit at (312) 745-4521.
