JOLIET, Ill. (STMW) – A pedestrian died Thursday morning after a pickup truck struck her in southwest suburban Joliet.
Penny Kalamaras, 58, of Joliet, was pronounced dead at 10:38 a.m. Thursday at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, according to the Will County Coroner’s office.
Kalamaras was a pedestrian struck by a vehicle near the intersection of North Larkin and Mayfield avenues in Joliet, according to the coroner’s office.
She was crossing the street when a northbound pickup truck driven by an Indiana motorist struck her, Joliet police Lt. Kevin LaBolle said. Kalamaras was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center where she later died, reports said.
The 23-year-old driver remained at the scene and there were no immediate indications drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. No tickets had been issued as of Thursday evening, but the traffic unit was working to reconstruct the crash.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

If it happened in Joliet, the police will probably find the pedestrian responsible.

I am very close to the driver who struck the pedestrian. Until everyone knows both sides to the story, I feel any comments about this article are unfair.

There is only the story side of the “driver” he killed the other part of the story! That is the only unfair fact, here.
