Vandals Hit Northern Illinois Veterans Memorial

The damage is noticed at this year’s Veterans Day observance.

KIRKLAND, Ill. (AP) – Authorities say parts of the Northern Illinois Veterans Memorial have been vandalized with some portions broken off and others tagged with graffiti.

Attendees at a Veterans Day observance on Thursday noted the vandalism. The problems included torn off etchings, panels that had been pulled off and damaged marble.

The memorial is located in Kirkland in rural DeKalb County. It was constructed two decades ago.

Police say there have been ongoing problems with vandalism.

They should find the little punks and send them to Afghanistan to find out what price is paid for the freedom they have. Poor kids are bored so they create havoc and mayhem…go find a veteran and help them get through the day and thank them for their sacrifices for this country.
    God Bless America!

This is sad that anyone would do this, it needs to be classified a hate crime

I would wager they were emboldened by the words of others who hate the military and Veterans as well. People do not just do this for no cause at all, it took effort and time. They most likely thought that they were merely expressing their liberal views.

I would like to meet them.

You really sound dumb. Buy a plane ticket and leave America immediately because you don’t deserve to live here. That’s the polite way of saying what I really want to say to you.

  • X

No, you just have a lack of comprehension as to why I would like to meet them.

As a Veteran of the ARMY, I think i might be a bit more disgusted and angry over what they did to that memorial than you can imagine.

So, keep your mouth shut next time instead of telling everyone how little you can comprehend.

I guess that fact that I fought for my country does not allow me to deserve to live here, I guess you have given more than myself and others who paid with their lives.

I was lucky, I was only injured badly.
