A 2001 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 17-year-old boy was eastbound on Garys Mills Road when he lost control for an unknown reason and hit a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was exiting a residential driveway and being driven by Steven Schultz.

The pickup was hit in its rear by the rear end of the Jetta, the release said.

The Winfield teen, whose name was not disclosed, was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield where he was placed on life-support because of the injuries, according to the release.

Schultz, 52, of Wheaton, was apparently not hurt and no citations were written, the release said.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation by the sheriff's police.
