A woman came to the Downers Grove police department at 825 Burlington Ave. about 5:05 p.m. to drop off what appeared to be several homemade explosive devices, police said.

The woman was preparing a vacant home in Aurora for an estate sale when she discovered the devices, according to a Downers Grove police release.

She did not know where the Aurora police station was located and took the devices to Downers Grove police to turn in the suspicious devices, police said.

Downers Grove police contacted the DuPage County Sheriff's office to request the assistance of the bomb squad, which used a robot to disable the devices, the release said.

Residents within a half-mile of the police station were notified of the circumstances, the release said. Police said at no time was anybody in danger.

Aurora police were notified of the incident, but were not immediately available for comment Wednesday night.
