Unruly McDonald’s Customer Refuses To Pay For Sauce

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (STMW) – Maybe if he had gone to Burger King, he could have had it his way. Instead, police were called to a northwest suburban McDonald’s when a man refused to pay for extra barbecue sauce.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct call at the McDonald’s at 1200 N. Arlington Heights Rd. in Buffalo Grove at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to Buffalo Grove police.

A restaurant worker said the customer requested extra barbecue sauce for his meal and became upset when he was told extra condiments cost 10 cents, according to police.

The man allegedly told the clerk he was from a local health department and that when he returned, the restaurant “would not be happy with the health code violations that he would find.”

Police have been unable to trace the registration on the man’s vehicle, and no arrests had been made as of Thursday. The Buffalo Grove Health Department said no one matching the man’s description works there.

Well, can’t a damn multi, multi BILLION dollar business afford to give out a little exra BBQ sauce?!?! oh PHUUULLLEEEAAASSSEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, the various locations are owned by a franchisee, who is responsible for profit and loss etc. And most franchises may charge for extra anything, in areas like Chicago , as people ask for all kinds of extras and freebies etc. Especially on some of the items, which is specials mandated by corporate, they may not actually make any money on certain items, but hope that the customer will order other things to go with it that allow them to make a profit. So I understand the request for the 10 cents, as you can be nickled and dimed out of business these days.

Having said all that, I don’t think once he made this big a stink about this I would have done anything other than, here. heres your item, goodbye. But by threatening them with the health inspection, they probably needed to cover their behind in case he actually did wotk for the health department.

This goes to show us what is really important in our lives. The news is supposed to be relevant and have substance. This is inane and stupid. What can we expect from Channel 2?

    • Scott

Dear Fed Up, this story is relevant, because, like your post, it just goes to show what jerks a lot of people are. I was able to have two laughs from the same story. Thanks!
