Man Accused Of Killing Cow With Arrows

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - McLean County authorities have filed animal cruelty charges against a Colfax man accused of killing a cow by shooting it with arrows.

Prosecutors told the (Bloomington) Pantagraph on Friday that 20-year-old Quentin Getty allegedly shot the cow in the face during a Nov. 2 outing with a friend.

Getty has been jailed in lieu of $7,500 bond on charges of cruelty to animals and criminal damage to property.

Authorities did not say whether Getty had an attorney.

Assistant State's Attorney Sheila Duncan said in court on Friday that police found arrows matching those that hit the cow in Getty's possession.

Duncan says the new charges represent the third felony case filed against Getty since June. He was previously charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and possessing a stolen vehicle.
