Cops Use Stun Gun To Break Up Student Fight

CHICAGO (CBS) --Police were forced to use a Taser to break up a fight between female students at Northwest Side high school Friday afternoon, leaving the student hospitalized.

At about 1:35 p.m., police responded to a fight at Kelvyn Park High School in the school in the 4300 block of West Wrightwood Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The fight started between two female students, but escalated even as police tried to quell the situation, Zala said.

A crowd started to form and a third female student got involved, he said. The three began to exchange blows as police tried to disperse them, ultimately using a Taser on one of the students.

Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said crews responded to the school and one person was taken in good condition to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.

No one else was injured and no arrests had been made as of early Friday evening, Zala said.
