CHICAGO (CBS) - Chicago Police officers shot and wounded a man on the city's South Side Monday.

Around 2:30 p.m. Monday, officers spotted a vehicle matching a description involved in several robberies. They pulled the car over in the 3100 block of South Ashland Avenue, according to police News Affairs.

Police say an armed suspect inside the car pointed a weapon at the officers, then drove off.

Officers caught up with the suspects a couple of miles away, in the 4600 block of South Paulina Street. Upon arriving, a suspect confronted the officers again and they fired, striking a man in the leg.

The suspect was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
