Perfect Holiday Gift Idea: Capture My Chicago Book

CHICAGO (CBS) — We are proud to show you Chicago like you have never seen it before.

On Friday at Borders in Lincoln Park, CBS 2 and Pediment Publishing released “Capture My Chicago 2010”–a collection of amazing photography by local photographers.

And it’s now available for your holiday gift-giving!

The book was created from over 50,000 photos submitted to the website, Participants helped shape the book by voting on the photographs they thought were the best.

And this being Chicago, we voted early and often–over 2.4 million times actually.

The result is a 160-page, high-quality coffee table book showcasing the very best of Chicago.

The cover shot, a stunning black-and-white shot of “The Bean”–was taken the Kenneth Steele. The grand prize–which goes to the highest scoring photo in the contest–went to Critter Rettirc for his brilliant shot of fireworks over the Chicago River.

The book is now available for purchase in time for holiday gift-giving. You can pick on up at Borders, Barnes & Noble and Books A Million.

Or make it easy on yourself and go to to order online. The book will arrive in time for Christmas.

I’m waiting for my ordered and paid for “Capture My Chicago” in August with delivery promised Nov. 17……………I contacted Pediment Publishing TWICE with NO response. PLEASE ADVISE when this was or will be shipped.

We received our book and are VERY DISAPPOINTED! Our daughter enter photos and we thought everyone was supposed to have a least 1 or their photos on the DVD. NOPE, Nothing. Her photo isn’t anywhere and that was the only reason we bought the book. Since last years book wasn’t very good we only wanted this years so we could see her photo on the disk and her name in the book. This book is bad too. Don’t waste your money.

I agree with you Joan!! Don’t wast your Money. I can’t beleive all the time I wasted in even voting. Whatever I guess i just got to let it go.!!!!!!

Well i got my book today (11/26/2010) that i orderd in July and have been obsessed with voting and watching this capture my chicago grow. I think the book looks great. I’m not in it but, I would have thought that I would at least be on the CD. I received a lot of votes on my pictures even with some I LOVE IT votes and nice comments. Just don’t understand why every one couldn’t at least be on the CD so everyone feels good. I thought this was for AMATURE PHOTOGRAPHERS not professionals. A little disappointed. Sorry:(

Well, I am disappointed also. I got the impression that it was going to be like last time where EVERYONE had the opportunity to have ONE photograph at least on the DVD if their photo didn’t make the book.
No where did I see that it said several people would have more than 30 photos on the DVD. In the last book it was nice to see ALL the names of the people who participated and see their artistic talent with photography. I also thought this was for amateurs. That was the fun of it.

And I thought the layout of the books could have been a lot better.
Oh and just a thought for if you all do it again, could be better music on the DVD also.

And just another thought, in the future to make things better maybe the book could be a little bigger so everyone has a chance to be in the book and make all the photographs one size that way you can put more photos on a page if they were all the same. Some of them took two whole pages. Then everyone would have the opportunity to have their work shown.
And then you wouldn’t need the DVD everyone would enjoy seeing their picture in the book.

The photos are so bad because it was more or less a Facebook/twitter popularity contest, rather than a photo contest and not judged by real photographers.
Dont waste your money on this when there are plenty of professionally done albums to choose from.
