2 Police Officers Injured In West Side Crash

Offending Driver Fled The Scene

CHICAGO (CBS) – Two Chicago Police officers are on the mend Friday morning, after they were injured by a hit-and-run driver on the city’s West Side.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. Thursday at Roosevelt Road and Lawndale Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The officers, assigned to the Ogden District, were on patrol and both inside the squad car when the crash happened, he said.

The driver fled the scene after the crash.

Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said one officer was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County and another was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Preliminary police information indicated the injuries are not life-threatening and the officers were simply taken to be examined.

The search continues for the hit-and-run driver.
