Driver Seriously Hurt In Crash In Elgin

ELGIN (CBS) -- A pickup truck driver was seriously injured after crashing into a dump truck in northwest suburban Elgin on Saturday.

A Dodge Dakota pickup truck was heading east on Route 20 in Elgin near Nessler Road at 7:30 a.m. when the truck hit a Ford S350 dump truck, which was turning left from Nessler onto westbound Route 20, according to Elgin public safety spokeswoman Sue Olafson.

The driver of the pickup was flown by a Flight For Life helicopter to Advocate Luther General Hospital in Park Ridge with serious injuries, Olafson said.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

The cause of the crash was under investigation by Elgin police and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.

The accident temporarily closed down portions of Route 20.
