Man Charged With Rape Of 19-Year-Old Woman

GARY, Ind. (STMW) – A Gary man has been charged in Lake Superior Court with rape and several other felonies in connection with a sexual assault at his home.

Darin Andre Dunham, 44, of the 1100 block of Jackson Street, is charged with raping a 19-year-old woman, who told police she and Dunham had been smoking crack on Nov. 19. At about 2 a.m. the following morning, he told her, “Let’s go,” so she grabbed her purse and walked toward the door. He pulled her back by her neck, slammed her onto the floor and raped her, then began beating and kicking her.

The woman had a knot by both eyes, scratches on her chest and other injuries.

The woman said she elbowed Dunham and bit his hand. He threw her purse onto the floor and threw her cell phone out the door.

The woman ran from the home and to her grandmother’s home.

In addition to rape, Dunham is charged with two counts of criminal confinement, strangulation, intimidation, interference with reporting a crime and misdemeanor battery.

The charges are punishable by a maximum 20-year sentence.

Dope addict drama for which there will likely be no conviction. A half competent public defender will tear that up.

20 years is appalling. Any man who rapes should be held accountable for something similar to murder. The horror of living as a rape survivor who does not receive justice for the crime committed against her is worse than death. Shame on the legal system!

Da ho wanted to smoke da free crack, but didn’t want to pay when the time came. Apparently her grandma lives close by too – wonder if that’s because she was living with grandma because her mom was a worthless ho too.Crackheads will do anything for a fix, but after they get the fix, they split instead of paying up.
