Fire Heavily Damages West Side Apartment Building

CHICAGO (STMW) - Two floors of a West Side apartment building were heavily damaged in a fire Monday afternoon, but no injuries were reported.

The fire happened in a three-story apartment building about 11:15 a.m. at 436 N. Lawler Ave., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said.

Although there were initial reports of people trapped in the building, everyone was out when firefighters arrived, Curtis said.

There were no reports of injuries although the fire caused heavy damage to both the second and third floors, he said.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze, Curtis said.

The cause is under investigation.
