Man Dies When Truck Tire Explodes
Over-inflation may be to blame for a truck tire explosion.
WOOD DALE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a 53-year-old suburban Chicago man is dead after his truck tire exploded while he was attempting to fill it with air.
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Bogdan Gaca of Wood Dale. He was pronounced dead just before 2 p.m. on Saturday at Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
An autopsy on Sunday shows he died from multiple injuries. Authorities ruled his death an accident.
The medical examiner's office says Gaca was filling the tire with air at his home and may have become over-inflated and exploded in his face.
