Quinn To Deliver Holiday Cards To Troops Overseas

Gov. Pat Quinn To Personally Deliver Holiday Cards From Illinois Children To Wounded Soldiers

CHICAGO (AP) – Gov. Pat Quinn wants Illinois school children to make holiday cards for wounded troops overseas.

Quinn says he plans to personally deliver the cards before Christmas to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

Quinn told school children about the annual holiday card drive during a ceremony Monday to light the Christmas tree at the main state of Illinois building in downtown Chicago.

The cards, he said, are special to the wounded troops who are hospitalized and away from their homes and families during the holidays.

Teachers who want their students to send holiday cards to the troops should mail them to Quinn’s office.

During the tree lighting ceremony, state and other officials also highlighted the needs of homeless veterans and what Illinoisans can do to help them.

Pat, why not personally stay in Illinois and fix our budget woes. You are in the big leagues now…time to act like a governor.

The governor should stay home unless he is paying for the trip out of his own pocket. He can pay for mailing the cards since he is such a humanitarian. The governor appears to be brain dead when it comes to reality. How many hangers on will be in his entourage. WE ARE BROKE MR GOVERNOR, that is what you keep saying to get a tax increase. How about you work for free and decrease your staff. I know drop all those high dollar positiions on all those useless committees that all your friends and acquaintances have family making 100′ of thousands of dollars.

Good thing the state is so well that Quinn can take a nice trip to Germany. What soldier would care if this guy went over there to give them a card. I’d rather send one of the children that made the card, but that would mess up Quinns free (tax paye paid) vacation to Germany. I can’t believe people voted for this clown!

That’s very nice, really. Now how about Quinn start delivering JOBS to unemployed Illinois residents?

Boy oh boy…lots of bitterness in these comments. Can’t we just be happy that someone is thinking about the troops? Do you really want it to be all about “me, me, me”???
