Woman Pleads Not Guilty In Slashing Daughter's Throat

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) - A New York woman accused of slashing her 4-year-old daughter's throat at a relative's home in DuPage County has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 43-year-old Marci Webber entered the plea Monday in DuPage County Circuit Court.

Webber faces five counts of first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing her daughter, Magdalene ``Maggie'' Webber on Nov. 3 while they were staying at the girl's grandmother's home in the western Chicago suburb of Bloomingdale.

Authorities did not indicate Monday whether Marci Webber has an attorney. Prosecutors say she could be sentenced to as long as 60 years in prison if convicted of the slaying.
