CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The local charitable organization Kidz Korna is hoping for generosity from others to help it replace a van used to deliver Christmas gifts to needy kids.

The van was torched, according to the organization's director Delece Williams, possibly by a fired employee.

"We don't know," she said. "That's under investigation. Or it could have been someone simply trying to steal some things out of the van."

Whatever the case, the van was destroyed.

And, Williams says, there are a lot of kids they want to help.

"The more we just look into the eyes of these kids its hard for us to just say, 'OK times up we gotta close up.' We just cannot afford to do it when we have so many young people looking to us for help."

Last year, she says, thanks to donors, they provided 5,000 Christmas gifts to those in need.
