Second Person Charged In Murder Of Retired Teacher

BROOKFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Police in the Chicago suburb of Brookfield say the girlfriend of a man charged with murdering a retired schoolteacher there also took part in the June 14 killing.

Brookfield Police Chief Steven Stelter says 24-year-old Bonnie Shelesny of Arlington Heights is being held without bond after being charged with first-degree murder, residential burglary and possession of a controlled substance. Stelter says Shelesny confessed to police after her arrest Wednesday.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Shelesny was with Steven Kellman when the 31-year-old Brookfield man was arrested shortly after the fatal beating, strangling and stabbing of 65-year-old Marilyn Fay.

Police say Fay befriended the unemployed Kellman and even let him live in her house for a time while he sought work.

Police did not say Friday whether Shelesny has an attorney.
