Northwestern Headed To Inaugural Ticket City Bowl

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Texas Tech will play Northwestern in the inaugural Ticket City Bowl in Dallas on Jan. 1

The Red Raiders and the Wildcats have the same 7-5 record and will face each other for the first time in the game played at the Cotton Bowl.

Each team played Iowa State this season. The then-No. 13 Cyclones lost 21-17 at Northwestern but beat Texas Tech at home lost 52-38.

Pat Fitzgerald is in his fifth year coaching the Wildcats, while Tech's first-year coach Tommy Tuberville will lead the Red Raiders in their 11th-straight bowl game.

Last year, the Red Raiders beat Michigan State 41-31 in the Alamo Bowl without coach Mike Leach. The university fired him Dec. 30, two days after suspending him amid allegations he mistreated a player with a concussion.
