Comcast Internet Service Returns

CHICAGO (WBBM) – If you subscribe to Comcast Internet service in the Chicago area, Northwest Indiana or southwest Michigan, you must have wondered where it went Sunday night.

LISTEN: Newsradio 780’s Dave Marsett Reports

An outage of high-speed Internet started at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and finally ended at about 12:15 a.m. Monday.

Cause of the outage is still under investigation.

The outage inconvenienced anyone who wanted to check e-mail or book a flight and consternation for those who need Internet service to earn a living.

The company advises customers who experienced problems connecting to the internet, to turn off their modems and turn them back on to reset service.

During the outage, a recorded message at 1-800-Comcast said the company was experiencing technical difficulties, and asked customers to call back later. The company updated customers via its Twitter account @comcastcares.

The outage did not affect Comcast phone or cable television services.

do we get credit for the inconvenience?

    • B.P.

Yes. That was the reply I received from the COMCAST agent. Call COMCAST. Write down the time, date, and name of the employee. I’m sure they don’t wanna lose their customers/subscribers.

  • JM

Of course not. that would be too much like “right”…

  • B.P.

I was online on a “very important bidding process with eBay”(Serious matter to me)when my service was interrupted. Checked everything from connections, modems, router,etc.Nothing. TV works(means connections are good). Called COMCAST over a dozen times. Nothing. @20 minutes past midnight, finally got connected. I was offered refund/compensation for the outage time.
Suggestion: Get a second Internet service provider(one that uses telephone line) as a “back up”. However, keep in mind there’s still power or service interruptions(Tel.Company, 2nd service provider, etc.)
    Thanks COMCAST!!!

This is the latest of MANY outages that our area has experienced. We attempted to call COMCAST from 7:50p until after 10:00p and received a busy signal with each attempt. We have started a log. Service has been out four times in the last 3 weeks and it has been both phone and internet. Our cable service seems to be stable. I am VERY disappointed with the service and have sometimes received poor customer service when calling to inquire about the issue. I have even opted to get a call back to rate customer service and taken the survey. Deaf ears?

wow epic fail. amazing to get busy tone for several hours from a major company who is selling “communications”.
