Toddler Among 3 Injured In Rollover Crash

ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) - Three people were taken to a hospital, including a 4-year-old boy, after the SUV they were in rolled over Tuesday morning in northwest suburban Elgin.

The crash happened about 11:40 a.m. in the 1400 block of Larkin Avenue, a police report said. Police found the 2004 Ford Explorer upright but with its roof and windshield caved in, a police spokeswoman said.

The driver, her 4-year-old son and another passenger were taken to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin with minor injuries, police reported.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a 2008 Honda Accord was pulling out of a nearby restaurant parking lot and clipped the Explorer, the spokeswoman said.

The Explorer fishtailed and then flipped over, police reported.

The driver and passenger in the Accord were not injured, police said.

The driver of the Honda, Ernestina Bravo, 58, of Elgin was cited with failure to yield from a private drive, police said. Both vehicles were towed.
