CHICAGO (CBS) —A 75-year-old man was critically injured Friday morning when he was hit by an SUV and became trapped under the vehicle on the South Side.
The man was crossing the street at the corner of 70th Street and King Drive when an SUV struck him, police said.
The driver stopped at the scene and the victim became rapped under the vehicle.
Chicago Fire Department rescue crews were able to get the victim out from under the SUV and he was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, a Fire Department spokesman said..
Police remained on the scene at 10:20 a.m. The Major Accident Investigation Unit was investigating.
