BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (CBS/WBBM) — A car crashed into an elementary school in northwest suburban Buffalo Grove early Monday, leaving the school seriously damaged.
About 1 a.m., a vehicle lost control, left the roadway and crashed into the Willow Grove Kindergarten Center at 777 Check Dr., according to a Buffalo Grove police sergeant.
The school says it is open for classes today, but the front entrance is unusable.
The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was not seriously injured, according to the sergeant.
The school building sustained an unspecified amount of damage, police said. The vehicle was pulled from the building as of 4:20 a.m.
The crash remained under investigation Monday morning, police said. Drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as a cause.
There is no word as to whether the inclement weather was a factor in the crash.
