CHICAGO (STMW) - No one was hurt when diesel fuel accidentally spilled in the basement of a Loop building Thursday morning.
A Level 1 HazMat was called at 9:28 a.m. for a diesel fuel spill in the basement of a nine-story building at 1 S. Franklin St., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado.
The fuel accidentally spilled when someone filled a container too high, according to Rosado, who said no one was hurt and the building was not evacuated.
A fan was used to ventilate the area, he said, and the HazMat was secured about 10:40 a.m.
The building houses a La Quinta Inn & Suites, according to police.
