Evicted Families Invited To Holiday Party

NORRIDGE, Ill. (STMW) - Families recently evicted from their homes are invited to a Cook County Sheriff holiday party for less fortunate children from area shelters and parishes.

As part of a continuing effort to assist struggling families get back on their feet, the Cook County Sheriff's office invited children whose parents struggled to pay their rent or mortgage and were removed from their home by deputies to a holiday party, according to a Cook County Sheriff's office release.

More than 100 underprivileged children are expected to attend the event from 12 p.m.- 3 p.m. Dec. 19 at Edelweiss Restaurant, 7650 West Irving Park Road in Norridge, according to the release.

State Rep. Luis Arroyo and Cook County Commissioner Peter Silverstri are also sponsoring the party which will include gifts, food, a choir and magician, along with a visit from Santa Claus.
