Brenda Farlow, acting lieutenant for the fire protection district, said when firefighters arrived on the scene the fire was fully involved. She said the fire started in the basement of the home.

Individuals living in the home, including a disabled man, escaped the blaze unharmed, but lost at least two cats and a dog, along with all of their possessions, including Christmas presents. The fire was struck out at 4:30 p.m. and no firefighters were injured fighting the blaze.

Farlow said investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire, but believe it was accidental.
