CHICAGO (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton will campaign in support of former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel’s bid for Chicago mayor.

Emanuel campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said Sunday that Clinton will be in Chicago in January to appear on Emanuel’s behalf. A date and place have not been determined.

Emanuel formally announced he would run for Chicago mayor in November, just weeks after leaving his post as President Barack Obama’s chief of staff. Before his time in the Obama administration, Emanuel spent five years as a U.S. congressman for Illinois.

Emanuel held various positions in the Clinton administration, including senior policy adviser, director of special projects and political director.

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley has said he will not seek a seventh term.

I’m a Republican but realistic that Chicago is a demoratic city, this is great move for Eman. The city must have Emanual or Chico as Mayor, anything less would be the biggest let down in Chicago’s history. We don’t need uneducated racists from the southside being voted in. This is an international city now, not “give give give liberal entitlement city” anymore. Chico and Emanual get that.

Shemp, you might want to look at the polls. Clinton or not, this Rahm guy may end up being your mayor. You say, “Chicago doesn’t want him or Rahm…” You must live in fantasy land. Rahm may not win, but to make a statement like you did is ludicrous. And Bill coming for Rahm is no small thing. Wisen up

I believe it will be Rahm, Davis and Chico in the final race
