Man Burns Christmas Tree, Hurts 1-Year-Old

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are looking for a man who set his ex-girlfriend's Christmas tree on fire and injured her 1-year-old child.

Witnesses said the man was spotted running without a shirt from the scene of the fire at 4817 S. Kolin Ave. Sunday night.

Firefighters responded to the blaze around 8:25 p.m. Sunday. A still-and-box alarm was called for the fire, which was extinguished by 8:40 p.m.

Firefighters rescued a 1-year-old child, who suffered minor burns and was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital as a precaution, Knight said.

Two other children and a dog were also rescued.

The mother's intoxicated ex-boyfriend entered the home and set the Christmas tree on fire before he fled the scene, according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.

The boyfriend was not in custody early Monday, according to Gaines.
