Report: Man Used Pliers To Pull Teeth From 2-Year-Old

MADISON, Ind. - Authorities in southern Indiana say a man used pliers to pull two teeth from the mouth of his girlfriend's 2-year-old son.

Andrew Richards, 27, faces felony charges of child battery and confinement and 22-year-old Jessica Carder is charged with aiding child battery and neglect. Both were being held on $50,000 cash bond Tuesday in the Jefferson County Jail in Madison.

The Madison Courier reports the Hanover couple was arrested Thursday, about a month after Carder's son was taken to a hospital in Louisville, Ky., with injuries to his mouth. Authorities say Carder told police that Richards pulled the child's loose teeth while he was high on oxycontin.

Richards told WAVE-TV that he pulled a loose tooth from the boy and denied he was using any drugs.
