Large Shipment Of Cannabis Intercepted In NW Suburb

SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) – Police in South Elgin intercepted a large shipment of cannabis on Wednesday at a shipping company in the northwest suburb.

South Elgin police received information about a suspicious container and obtained a search warrant for a local shipping and receiving company, a police release said.

Police seized 37,162 grams of cannabis with an estimated street value of $470,000, the release said. Also seized was an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police could not immediately provide further information Thursday morning.

    It’s time to legalize it. Sell it like alcohol and tax it. It would make it HARDER for underaged kids to get if it were regulated. Also retroactive pardons for those convicted of marijuana only offenses. And an end to urine tests for marijuana as pre-employment requirement. It’s time to rethink a policy that doesn’t work and wastes money ,manpower and sometimes lives.
