Red Cross Recruiting On South Side

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago is looking for a few good men and women.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's Debra Dale reports, when disaster strikes, the Red Cross dispatches volunteers from the immediate area to help. But spokesman Jerry Holmes says that has been easier to do in some areas of the city than others.

"We have a lot more disasters, proportionally per volunteer, in the South Side of Chicago and southern Cook County than we do in some of the other areas," Holmes said.

Thus, the agency is actively recruiting volunteers through its South Side disaster team.
