Bears Focused On Turnovers

A staple of the Bears’ defense under Lovie Smith has been forcing turnovers. While that’s lacked over the past few games, expect the Bears to turn that around.

“One of the things that we haven’t been pleased with is just the amount of takeaways,” Lovie said. “This time of year, that turnover ratio is big.”

Lovie has always placed a high priority of forcing takeaways, players like Charles Tillman have become very adept at punching the football out and capitalizing on opportunities.

With the playoffs on the horizon, turnover ratio can mean the difference between one-and-done and making a deep run to Dallas.

“We haven’t taken the ball away enough,” Lovie said. “Hopefully we can get back to that this week.”

While Lovie, as usual, remained even keeled when talking about forcing turnovers, expect for the defense to be more aggressive than normal.

I think Lovie Smith should get a 1 YEAR extension to see if he truly has placed his arrogance and ego aside for the sake of his job and our Bears team. If he can continue to show that he’s willing to listen to others and take that advice, he’ll do well here in Chicago.

Angelo show be replaced. Our offensive coordinators should never have been placed in a situation to shovel around linesman and plug and place those guys, in order to make things work. The Bears were lucky…frickin lucky that Cutler didn’t get knocked out for the season, early on. I believe Angelo has only drafted 1 offensive linesman since his arrival. Is he so dense that he didn’t recognize the problem at the end of last season? Several other high picks by him have been busts as well. Time for Angelo to go elsewhere. I’m not a “pro football” employee. But, I’m also not an architect and I could identify that a roof is collapsing because it has cracked beams. Obvious problems don’t take an expert to identify. Why hasn’t he (a so called expert) addressed that situation?
